Hi, I’m CJ,

I’ve struggled to find clothes that fit me well for as long as I can remember. As a teenager, once I started paying attention to what I wore, I realized that liking something was only half the battle — it also had to actually fit my body.

I’m petite, but like most women, my proportions don’t fit neatly into one box. I’m long-waisted and curvy, which means finding the right fit is never as simple as just grabbing a “petite” label off the rack.

Bottoms have always been my biggest challenge. Work pants, casual pants, pajama pants, athletic pants — all of them. I’m constantly hunting for a pair that’s the right length, fits through the waist and hips, and still looks stylish. And not every trend does me favors. Wide-leg pants, for example, can make me feel shorter and wider than I want to look. For me, proportion matters just as much as size.

I also love clothes. Would I enjoy a closet full of beautiful, expensive pieces? Absolutely. But that’s not how I shop most of the time. J. Jill is about the top of my usual budget, and even then, I’m watching for a sale. What I really love is finding an affordable piece that looks great, fits well, and feels like a better find than the price tag suggests.

Finding petite clothing can be frustrating, especially when you shop online. Something can look great in a photo and still be too long, too short, or just not fit the way you expected. And when it doesn’t fit, there’s always the option of alterations — but I’m not a seamstress, and paying to have clothes altered adds another expense. I’d much rather find something that fits well from the start.

That’s a big part of why I started Picks for Petites.

I’m not a stylist, and I don’t have every petite fashion rule figured out. I’m simply someone who’s spent years shopping for clothes that work for my body — figuring out what fits, what doesn’t, and what’s actually worth buying.

When I find a great petite piece, an affordable option, a store that actually carries something that fits, or a shopping tip that makes the process easier, I want to share it.

I do it with a little help. I use AI tools to speed up research and drafting, but every measurement, every fit note, and every pick on this site comes from me actually checking the details — I’m not letting a computer decide what makes the cut.

My hope is that Picks for Petites helps other petite women spend less time searching, returning clothes that don’t fit, and wondering whether something will actually work — and more time finding clothes they enjoy wearing.

I’m glad you’re here!
